Herefordshire Dhamma Dipa featured in the Guardian

Those that have done a silence retreat claim amazing results – the first few days are tough and your mind races, but then you have so much time to think through your issues that you come out feeling free, calm and happy. A 10-day silent Vipassana meditation retreat at the Dhamma Dipa in Herefordshire involves a process of “self-purification by self-observation”, to help you to eradicate suffering and tension, feel liberated and able to face your problems in a calm way. There’s no religious element, and no charge, though those who’ve completed the course usually make a donation.   Full Story can be seen here

First loyalty program for Australia’s entertainment and sports travel sectors

Australian-owned event and incentive specialist, cievents, has created the country’s first loyalty program for the entertainment and sports travel industry.

cievents has partnered with leading Australian entertainment and sports travel management company, Stage and Screen Travel Services, to design and launch the innovative ‘Backstage Advantage’ program.

Developed by ciloyalty, cievents’ loyalty division, the program targets Stage and Screen clients including sports organisations and teams, and companies operating in the film, television, broadcasting, performing arts, music, fashion and creative media sectors. Backstage Advantage is an interactive web-based program in which these companies’ travel bookers earn reward points every time they book travel with Stage and Screen. Once travel bookers have accrued enough points they can shop virtually from an online Stage and Screen catalogue which includes a huge range of products from homewares, to cosmetics and accessories, to the latest electronics.

Travel bookers can also have the chance to earn extra points during special bonus months, and attend exciting industry events with Stage and Screen. They are kept up to date with the latest industry travel deals and news through a regular newsletter.

While the bookers are personally rewarded for their loyalty, their companies also benefit from travel cost savings. By making all bookings through Stage and Screen, travel policy compliance is higher and better savings are achieved.  Full story from Travel Daily News HERE

Sleeping Beauty at the Courtyard Theatre Hereford

First of all, I love “he’s behind you” pantomime.  Second, I love the Courtyard Theatre.

It was the third year in a row for Bou (now 8 ) and I attending opening night of Pantomime season.  This years Sleeping Beauty is going to be a huge success.  There’s a fantastic young cast, some great writing and it’s genuinely funny.  We had a fantastic time and the Britney montage in the second half will never be forgotten.  A fantastic nights entertainment in a terrific theatre.  Well done and thank you to Martyn and the whole team.  Bou really enjoyed it … oh no she didn’t…  Oh yes she did!

Danielle Morgan Miss Morgan said the clothes horse fell on her when she fell off the bed

A University of Derby student had to be cut free by firefighters after being trapped in a clothes horse for more than an hour.

Danielle Morgan said she had been “mucking about” in her flatmate’s bedroom when the accident happened.

Friends and staff at Sir Peter Hilton Court hall of residence tried to free her before calling the fire service.

The 18-year-old said she had been left with bruising to her neck and shoulders but could now laugh about the accident.

Miss Morgan said: “My friends just thought it was hilarious.

“I found it funny at first but after it got taken off I had a panic attack and the ambulance came out.”

Bolt croppers

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they used cutting equipment to free Miss Morgan from the clothes horse.

Firefighters were called to Agard Street in Derby at 21:25 GMT on Sunday.

Miss Morgan, who is originally from North Wales, had fallen off the bed of her flatmate Lisa Smith, 18.
